Dr. Vicente Reig Boix | Curriculum Vitae

Dr.Reig has been dedicated during all his life to ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY and has spent many years treating retired foreign people from the Marina Alta area.

He studied in the Navarra´s University School of Medicine and did his training as an Orthopedic Resident at Valencia´s Hospital “La Fe”.

After his Residence, Postgraduate Education was performed in Hospitals:

                  -EDINBURG (Great Britain)
                  -LINKÖPING (Sweden)
                  -LANSING (Michigan USA)

where he improved his orthopedic training and education.

He also learned, in these visits knew techniques, mainly TOTAL JOINT REPLACEMENTS, FOOT SURGERY, HAND SURGERY, AND SHOULDER AND KNEE ARTHROSCOPIES.

In 1970, he visited PROFESSOR JOHN CHARLEY (WRIGHTINGTON   HOSPITAL, near Wigan), who was a pioneer in Total Hip Replacement and who had special operating room to prevent infections.

In 1981 attended the ARMSTRONG COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL (PENNSYLVANIA)  where KNEE ARTHROSCOPIES were performed with great clinical improvement. Soon after Dr.Reig started  to use this technique at his Hospital, being a pioneer of this technique in Valencia.

One of  the most challenging technical problems, he has encountered lately, was the TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT ANTERIOR APPROACH, because its good results and accelerated recovery.

He works with other experienced Orthopedic Surgeons, covering most areas of the speciality.

In addition, he is a member of the Spanish Orthopedic Association, the Spanish Arthroscopy Society, the Spanish Knee Association and Valencia´s Community Orthopedic Society, where he has taken part of the Organizing Committee of several Congresses.
